More than a Destination, a return to self

What Del Mar Adventures Are - Wellness in Costa Rica & Beyond

Costa Rica is inherently magical. It’s indescribable, but felt and known by those who have had the privilege of walking the beaches, witnessing the jaw-dropping sunsets, hearing the power of the howler monkeys, meeting and laughing with locals, and simply watching as your days feel longer and filled with more peace and joy than ever before.

Del Mar Adventures was born in Costa Rica, between the waves of the ocean and the silence of the cloud forests; its culture naturally breeds togetherness and brings joy. With an emphasis on the need for human connection and the power of nature’s healing properties, I have spent years designing wellness experiences that nourish both body and spirit. It all began with women-only surf camps—grounding days of yoga, hiking, bonfires, and connection among ladies. Pushing both physical and mental boundaries through activities led to the cultivation of confidence and bravery, bringing what was learned back to their lives as new women who were better equipped to handle life’s ever-changing manner and brave personal storms.

“It was my way of reconnecting with myself and with other women.”

But I felt there was something deeper asking to emerge. It wasn’t just about surfing, or yoga, or even nature; it was about creating sacred spaces where people could let go, embrace themselves, reconnect, and remember who they truly are. The power of community is undeniable, and you will feel it the moment you step into these experiences; it is a feeling that never leaves you. Through shared vulnerability, shared fears, traumas, and overcoming these things connects you with like-minded individuals in an incredibly unique way.

For my logo, I was inspired by the dragonfly. They say it represents wisdom, adaptability, and the ability to move through life with grace. It also symbolizes freedom, evolution, and change. These qualities have shaped both my personal and professional journey. I am proudly Costa Rican, with family roots that shaped my childhood between San José and the countryside. Life has also given me a loving husband and four wonderful children: Sofía, Fisher, Alana, and Malin. Together, they form a team that inspires me every day.

Since I was young, I felt a deep connection to water and the sea. In 2003, my passion for surfing led me to create Del Mar Surf Camp. What started as a small surf school for women soon grew into a vibrant project with three locations: Jacó, Nosara, and Santa Teresa.

Those were wonderful years of female surf camps, full of dedication and joy. Most importantly, they were years of connecting and impacting people’s lives. Bringing people together has always been my greatest gift.

After eleven years of pause—during which I led a large team and managed a Yoga Resort in Nosara—the dragonfly reminded me it was time to embrace a new chapter. At 46, I decided to reinvent myself and give new life to my project, now with more maturity, a spiritual perspective, and alignment with this fresh phase of my journey.

With my background and new goals to inspire those around me in deeper ways in mind, Del Mar Adventures was born—a series of experiences intentionally designed to integrate movement, ritual, exploration, and community.

Each Del Mar experience is crafted with intention and purpose, each expert and activity chosen with wellness and growth in mind. There’s nothing generic here. Our locations are chosen for their energy, beauty, and ability to create a sense of space–across the globe, there are destinations for your specific goals.

Matapalo, for example, is a hidden gem between the jungle and the sea—ideal for immersing yourself in nature, connecting with the ocean, your surroundings, and finding space for yourself with limited distractions that promote a sense of clarity and calm.

“Matapalo is wild, adventurous, an insane dose of jungle.”

San Gerardo de Dota, by contrast, is mist, forest, and stillness—a place where silence allows thoughts to slow down, and time to feel and be present.

“San Gerardo is like an enchanted forest where the mind comes to rest. It is heaven on Earth.”

Each experience blends practices like surfing, yoga, meditation, Pilates, functional strength, hiking, and breathwork with deeply nourishing food, shared rituals, and time to simply be. This isn’t about rigid schedules—it’s about an organic flow that allows each participant to find and bring themselves to a place of content and peace.

And Del Mar Adventures doesn’t stop there. Personalized experiences are also offered in unique destinations around the world, crafted and guided by myself and trusted professionals to guide you through spiritual practices. One special example is a soul-led journey through the Sacred Valley in Cusco, Peru, near Machu Picchu. These intimate experiences are designed to meet you where you are—and take you deeper than you ever thought possible.

Why Costa Rica?

Del Mar Adventures is based in Costa Rica. Not only is it considered one of the world’s five blue zones, where longevity and quality of life thrive, but it also simply has health and connection at the heart of its culture.

Where happiness, peace, and connection with your community and nature aren’t afterthoughts to work lives and stresses, but integrated and prioritized in everyday life. Finding time to connect with yourself and your environment is easier here; its natural beauty, thriving and incredibly diverse ecosystems, and lifestyle make it one of the most incredible places on earth.

The days seem longer, the laughter more genuine, the food more flavorful and nourishing, the connections and memories made more everlasting and important.

The Role of Movement

Del Mar aims to create something lasting, beyond a single experience. This isn’t just a break. It’s the beginning of something much more: a conscious tribe, a circle of people who share a desire to live with more presence, joy, and authenticity. It also provides you with an opportunity to build a lasting routine and structure, learning what works for your body, what makes you feel good, and empowered.

With trainers that have helped me become a stronger person both mentally and physically, connecting me with my body, we learn the basics of different exercise practices, some more intense and functional, others focused on grounding, breathwork, and flow. For example, surfing provides us with the opportunity to simulate balance, failure, and the importance of consistency, as well as the peacefulness that comes with immersing yourself in something as wild and natural as the ocean. Long walks are ideal for mental solitude, mindfulness, and learning how to navigate complex thoughts and the stressors of daily life, whereas Pilates brings us strength and body awareness. All of our practices combine nature immersion, with research demonstrating its benefits surrounding lowering cortisol (stress hormone) and separating us from distractors (phones, work, etc.) The main focus being your well-being and happiness, discovering what brings you stillness and confidence in movement.

Who Is This For?

Del Mar was created especially for women—though not exclusively—who are in a moment of transition, seeking something more, or simply ready to return to themselves. Mothers, entrepreneurs, artists, leaders, caregivers. Women who hold others and now need to be held.

“We’re speaking to women who are ready to let go, to reconnect, or simply to pause.”

But it’s also open to anyone who feels called by our mission—those longing for meaningful, soulful experiences designed with care. The purpose of these trips is a shared intention to become better individuals in all aspects of life.

After the experience, we stay connected. Through newsletters, special content, and reunions, the community remains alive. The journey doesn’t end when you pack your bags—it’s only just beginning.

What to Expect

Each experience includes different options of daily movement practices like yoga, pilates, or functional strength, organic local meals, ceremonies, integration circles, and plenty of space to breathe. Some experiences are more ceremonial—like Sacred Gathering in Perú. Others are more contemplative, like Cloud Forest Heaven in San Gerardo, designed to reconnect you with inner quiet.

And always, there is a key ritual: sharing a meal. Yes, eating. But not just eating. We sit, we breathe, we speak. Not only do nutrient-dense and simple foods provide our body with the energy and resources that are needed to live a purposeful and joyful life, but the simple act of eating in a community becomes part of the medicine. Sharing conversations and learning different cultural practices within food connects us to ourselves and our surroundings in a deep way.

“Those moments of communion are what truly transform.”

Now more than ever, we need spaces like this. Spaces where silence is welcome, where nature is the teacher, and where the sacred lives in every gesture.

What Happens After?

Throughout the retreat you are not only experiencing presence and mindfulness, but cultivating skills that allow you to manage the difficulties and changes that life brings you. Managing stress through breathwork, finding healthy outlets such as exercise and simply learning how to be alone and deal with difficult emotions are some of the several proficiencies we teach and emphasize.

After the experience, we stay connected. Through newsletters, special content, and reunions, the community remains alive. The journey doesn’t end when you pack your bags—it’s only just beginning.

You deserve the ability to have peace in your life, to find stillness within the chaos and connect with yourself.

You’re already here.

Now take the next step—discover how to be part of the adventure.
