Del Mar Adventures was born from María Del Mar Alfaro’s love for the ocean, connection to nature, and passion for bringing
people together. She spent over a decade hosting surf camps for travelers from all over the world, sharing the places that had
shaped her life through the activity that gave it purpose.
After stepping aside for nearly another decade, she returned to herself when she decided to explore personal changes and live
an alcohol free lifestyle, and with it, Del Mar Adventures resurfaced not only as a surf camp but as a space to reconnect through
the joy of intentional movement, mindful practices and conscious nutrition, all while exploring exotic destinations.
Our spiritual wellness retreats and Costa Rica adventures are designed to remind you of the pleasure of being alive — a
philosophy that lies at the heart of every experience we host. There is no greater luxury than presence.
OUR FOUNDER
María del Mar Alfaro is a Costa Rican tourism professional with more than thirty years of experience. She's worked in hotels, travel agencies, organized surf competitions and explored her country firsthand while studying Tourism & Hotel Management.
A surfer herself, she’s had the opportunity to represent the industry at Expotour, helping
connect local tourism with the international market, as well as helping pioneer one of the first
women-only surf schools in Costa Rica.
She later served as General Manager of Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort for nearly a decade, where
she continued expanding her expertise in retreat design, boutique hospitality, and wellness
experiences.
Today, María combines her local knowledge, trusted network, and passion for intentional
travel to create Costa Rica adventures and sober friendly retreats that invite people to
discover the country—and themselves—in a meaningful way.
